Should We Move Halloween?

Is it bad that Halloween is always on October 31st no matter what?  Sometimes it feels that way, especially on a year like this, where it falls on a Wednesday.  Wouldn’t it be

better for kids AND adults if we celebrated on a weekend.

There’s a petition on Change.org right now calling for Halloween to be given a floating date.  If they got their way All Hallows Eve will always be celebrated on the last Saturday in October.

That would make Halloween more like Labor Day, which is always the first Monday in September regardless of the date . . . and less like Independence Day, which is always on July 4th.

So far, more than 25,000 people have signed the petition.

What do you think?  Are you a Halloween Purist?  Or would you like to ALWAYS do your Trick or Treating on a weekend?
