Yosemite National Park is Basically Our Backyard

Got out of the big city for a bit this weekend and was amazed at what we have right here in our own backyard.

Took the in-laws to Yosemite National Park because I want to do something different than baseball games and old prisons…not that there’s anything wrong with Giants baseball or Alcatraz.  I know they dig on camping and nature so I thought this might be a good fit.

Not only were they impressed – but this city boy was astonished by the experience.

I was in awe from the moment we came down that winding road in to the park valley.  I’ve got a crick in my neck from staring up at the giant sequoias and redwoods.  My jaw dropped when I caught my first glimpse of the Half Dome and El Capitan.  And fell in love with nature watching the water cascade over the edge of Yosemite, Bridal Vail and Vernal Falls.

I think John Muir said it best with this quote about Yosemite:

“It is by far the grandest of all the special temples of Nature I was ever permitted to enter.”

I cannot wait to go back.  I would love suggestions on other must see spots, trails/hikes or experiences I should try on my next visit to Yosemite National Park…

…cuz I am sooooooo going back!
