‘Tis the Season to Take Your Christmas Tree Down?

While taking the trash out last night I couldn’t help but notice the foliage sticking out of the dumpster.  Upon closer examination, it was, wait for it… wait for it…

A CHRISTMAS TREE!

It’s February 27th.  That tree and decorations should have been packed away a looooong time ago.  You’re supposed to take down the tree and all of your decorations on the Twelfth Night.  Nope, I’m not talking about the Shakespeare play.  The twelfth night after Christmas that marks Epiphany and the official end of Christmas celebrations.

That’s January 5th if you’re scoring at home…and obviously those folks aren’t.  In their defense – they’re only 53 days late.  Now I love the holidays and the soft glow of Christmas lights twinkling around the house but that’s ridiculous.

But according to folklore, if you keep your tree up after the January 6th, it has to stay up all year. So those folks need to dig that tree out of the trash, get the Christmas decos back out and follow the rules!  And get ready for a lot of pine needles, and a lot of hoovering.

Do you still have your Christmas tree & decorations up…and are willing to admit it?
