Fresh Fruit Right On The Corner, A San Joaquin Valley Tradition

KAT Country 103 is located about a quarter mile north of Arch Airport Road in Stockton. We’re not very close to much of anything when it comes to getting a quick meal or a snack. We have to drive nearly a mile to get to the other side of the highway just to get a sandwich or some Mexican fast food. So earlier when I had a craving for some fruit I knew I’d be out of luck. Ironically, every day as I’d make my way into our parking lot, a guy who busts his butt under an umbrella by the curb has gone unnoticed by me this entire time. What’s he doing? Running a fruit stand, Lol.

He has fresh tropical fruit of all kinds (coconut, pineapple, mango) mixed with watermelon and cantaloupe on ice. He cuts it up fresh whenever a customer stops by ready to eat so it stays juicy. I’ve lived in the valley for about 17 years of my adult life and I’ve never stopped at one of these stands. Ironically the only reason I did so today was there was nothing else close. Wow, what I’ve been missing all of these years. Tasty, fresh and cheap… just $5 for all the fruit you see here seasoned with some Tajin and lime juice. This guy just turned me into a regular customer!
