Yes. in Kuching, Malaysia, it seems, hundreds of people have come together, now, to set a new Guinness World Record for the “Largest Gathering of People Dressed Up as Cats”.

That’s right, on Saturday,a total of 440 people donned cat costumes for the record attempt–and nearly doubled the previous record of 250.

The record required that all participants wear a full-body cat costume–including whiskers, ears and a tail–to be counted toward the grand total, and a Guinness adjudicator was on hand to make it official.

Seems the city of Kuching’s name translates into “cats” in the local language, and the city is fill with statues and museums dedicated to felines.

(Editor’s note:  And these 440 “cats” took it seriously, too. Because right after the event, they shredded 440 couches, turned their 440 noses up on 440 perfectly good dishes of food…and simultaneously hacked up 440 nasty hairballs.)
