That’s right, the folks at MillerCoors have just announced that they’re bringing Zima back from the grave…but only for a limited time.
Zima, you may remember, debuted back in 1993–as a clear, citrusy-sweet, malt liquor alternative to beer and wine coolers–and it eventually made up 1% of the American alcoholic beverage market. But its popularity faded and it was discontinued in 2008–with critics calling it a “girly-man” beverage.
But a spokesman for MillerCoors says they’re bringing it back, now, because “90’s inspiration is everywhere, from food to fashion and more, and it’s clear the decade has made a comeback”.
It’ll go on sale over the 4th of July weekend–but the spokesman also says that once this run of Zima sells out, well…the dream is over…and they won’t be making anymore.
(Editors note: If you’re planning to serve Zima…at your 4th of July party…you can count on me not being there.)
