Speeding Ticket Fine Based On Your Income?

The California Senate is considering a bill that would base the amount of a traffic violation fine on your income. So let’s say you can convince a judge you don’t have the money to pay your speeding ticket, the judge could reduce the fine up to 80 percent. They figure a $400 fine for that guy caught going 100 miles per hour in his Lamborghini on Hwy 99 isn’t that big a deal to him…or at least not as big a deal as a $400 speeding fine would be to you or me. But, then again, I wouldn’t go 100 miles per hour on Hwy 99. And I don’t have a Lamborghini. I will say I’m glad Modesto turned off those red light cameras.  So what do you think? Do you like the idea of traffic fines based on what you make or how much money you have?
