Does Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer send the wrong message?  It made it’s first national television appearance of this holiday season on Tuesday night and Twitter-verse went nuts.

People were saying it’s time to shelve the holiday classic because of today’s “PC culture”.

Check out these choice comments from Twitter:

• #RudolphTheRedNosedReindeer teaching kids since 1964 that your peers will only accept your differences if you can provide them with some kind of service.
• I don’t have strength to watch this again. Those poor elves. That bully with the whip. Abusive deer. Dentist shaming. Unloved toys. It’s too much.
• Nothing says holiday spirit quite like dissecting #RudolphTheRedNosedReindeer and realizing almost everyone is an jerk. Comet legit encouraged bullying and exclusion.
• Is this special unhealthy for kids today to see or is the bullying meant to teach a valuable lesson?

I can’t imagine the season going by without seeing this Rankin Bass Christmas Special.  These were something I looked forward to every year.  It was a part of my youth.  Regardless of the message – I turned out alright…I think?
