The 4th of July is one of our favorite holidays…but not for our dogs. While we enjoy celebrating our country’s birthday and the freedom and independence we have, most dogs would tell you this is the most terrifying time of the year for them. I’m not sure why the clapping of thunder or the explosions of fireworks bothers some dogs more than others. One of our furbabies never seemed to notice. The other would be long gone into hiding in a closet or bathroom even before the echo of the first explosion had stopped. We learned to get sedatives from the veterinarian and keep them ready.
