Living in the Central Valley and East Bay of Northern California has it’s advantages. The many farmer’s markets that are coming alive again this time of year and the “pick your own” orchards aren’t to be missed. I personally love the pick your own cherries and peaches. And I wish the farmers would let us come walk through their fields after they finish harvesting and scoop up any salvageable tomatoes that got left behind. The tomatoes grown here this time of year have a flavor like no other. By now you’re no doubt curious about the photo. I know, that’s not a vegetable. It’s the air filter from my car. Another fine by-product of the spring/summer harvests. I don’t know why I’m always so surprised how these critter growths can make their way into the car. Anyway, back to food. Do you have a favorite farmer’s market you’d like to recommend to the rest of us? Please post away. Let’s share the goodies. -Scott Simon
