When you loan something out – how long do you wait before asking for it back?

We had a friend over for dinner. It was a great night – we had tons of fun and the food was on point.  I even made a pie.  We ended up sending a couple slices home with our guest.  We put it in one of our nice Rubbermaid containers.

It’s been TWO MONTHS and it hasn’t been given it back!

We’re beginning to wonder if we’re ever going to see this fine container ever again.  I feel a bit awkward asking for it.  I’m wondering if the statute of limitations has run out and we simply have to write it off.
