A Backstage Perspective on LAC

Here are the questions that people ask most about being backstage at a show like this.

Are the celebrities/musicians just walking around and hanging out backstage?
Yes some of them are. Often you’ll find guys from the band/artists and crews hanging out in the hospitality tent, which is where everyone goes to eat during the day. Yesterday we had fabulous food thanks to Fagundes Meats and Catering in Manteca.
The artists also have what we call a “rider” where they ask for specific things to be in their dressing rooms. At an event like this there are no dressing rooms, so we provide air-conditioned RVs for them and they often will ask for specific types of beers, sodas, sparkling water, sometimes meat and cheese platters, and we happily do that to make our artists happy. So sometimes we don’t get eat lunch with our stars.

So you can just walk up to people and get their autographs and hang out backstage?
No, that’s not usually how it works. Most of the people backstage including the Kat Country staff are very busy working. We’re putting on a show for our listeners, so while we all would like to hang out with the artists, (and sometimes we do have an opportunity to chat a little bit as they’re getting ready or come off stage) mostly everyone in the backstage area is working. While it’s really cool to see some of the artists hanging out and tuning up their instruments, we mostly let them do what they’re doing, and that’s getting ready for their show and their fans!
It’s a lot of work, whether it’s their own tour or if they are coming to a radio show like ours, there are lots of moving parts in the backstage area. Thanks to everyone for all their hard work!
